From a meandering glide among snow-covered pines to brisk skating and challenging terrain, northern Michigan cross country skiing at BOYNE is ideal for the whole family. Explore more than 70km of tracked and groomed trails. Our expert and passionate Nordic directors ensure that the trails are well maintained throughout the season and our trails are rated for a variety of skill levels for the differing skiers. New for the '08/'09 season Boyne Highlands will add lighting of over two miles of cross country trails; lights on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. Boyne Highlands offers 35km of groomed track set trails.

The Boyne Nordic Center is located on Boyne Mountain Road just across from the Mountain Villa Condominiums and trail passes are available for purchase at that location. In addition to the 35 km of groomed, track-set, scenic and safe trails for both traditional and skating techniques, we also offer instruction, rental equipment and cross country apparel/equipment for purchase. We even have 4K lighted for night skiing. Meticulously-groomed for both skating and traditional cross-country skiing, these picturesque northern Michigan cross-country skiing trails were rated #1 in Michigan by Michigan Living magazine readers.

Four main and several smaller trails combine to form our 42 KM Nordic Trail System. The trails feature two warming shelters and are power-tilled and groomed daily. Your Trail Pass includes use of the chairlifts giving skiers quick access to the heart of the Nordic Trail system, as well as the entire Alpine Ski area. In addition, Lake of the Clouds can be reached by following M-107, which is unplowed in winter.
